Go Speed Racer, Go

OK I admit it: I went to see Speed Racer on opening day. This is a picture of me (on crutches - don't ask!) wearing my Pitt Pass, waiting to get in.

The question is: Did I like it?

I wasn't too sure about it for the first 20 minutes or so and then I got over myself. Yes, actually, I loved it. Special effects: Awesome. Susan Sarandon: Seriously the coolest mom ever. Trixie: Hot stuff behind the wheel. Racer X: As sad and compelling as ever. I even liked the monkey. Best part of the whole movie: Hearing the gut-busting laughter of all the little kids in the house.

Best quote -
Pops Racer: You think you can drive a car and change the world? It doesn't work like that!
Speed: Maybe not, but it's the only thing I know how to do and I gotta do something.

True enough, Speed. True enough.

All we can do is what we have a call and a responsibility to do.

Go see it.

I took my boys (10 and 5 years old) to see the movie last night. What a fun movie! We thoroughly enjoyed it. My girls (14 and 13 years old) were in the next theatre watching Prince Caspian.

I read your posting before I saw the movie and notice the theme of changing the world for the better by doing whatever it is you're called or gifted to do. I probably wouldn't have notice it on my own, just cheered when the good guy won.

We'll be having a movie night at church in a couple of weeks and watching Evan Almighty. It didn't get great reviews but I think it also sends a good message.
