The Most Important Job Of A Leader
Tana Kjos
Quote of the Day:
"There is no greater thing you can do with your life and your work than follow your passions—in a way that serves the world and you…From Bono and Quincy Jones to Maya Angelou and the Dalai Lama, they all challenged themselves to do more, be more and give back more than even they thought possible. Everyone wants success, but you can do better than that."(Sir Richard Branson founder of Virgin Airlines commenting on the soon to be released book Success Built to Last: Creating a Life that Matters by Jerry Porras, co-author of Built to Last.)
People want their lives to matter. Are you giving the people you work with an opportunity to make a difference within your organization? Within the world? Are you calling people to give themselves away for the sake of others?
There is a mindset in too many of the faith communities we see that it is "the pastor's job" to do ministry. In fact, for decades, we trained pastors to be little more than family chaplains.
We can do better than that.
The job of our pastors - and the job of every leader - is to equip people to follow their passions in a way that serves the world, to help them be more and give back more than what they thought possible.
